Washington (QNN)- The occupation state of Israel is revealed to be behind a terrorist cyberattack earlier this month on computers at Iran’s Shahid Rajaee port that caused massive backups on waterways and roads leading to the facility, the Washington Post reported on Monday.Citing unnamed U.S. and foreign government intelligence and cybersecurity officials, the Post said the May 9 disruption of Iranian computers originated from ‘Israel’ and it was presumably in retaliation for an earlier attempted cyberattack on rural water distribution systems in the occupation state. The Post quoted an Israeli regime official as boasting that the attack had caused “total disarray” to shipping traffic in the port.Iranian officials have acknowledged that a cyberattack briefly knocked computers at Shahid Rajaee port terminal offline on May 9.Mohammad Rastad, managing director of the Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran, said the terrorist attack “failed to penetrate the PMO’s systems and was only able to infiltrate and damage a number of private operating systems at the ports”, according to Iran’s ILNA news agency. The Israeli Embassy in Washington did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Reuters on the Post report.
