GAZA, (PIC)+-A Palestinian citizen who was shot by Israeli occupation forces during the Great March of Return protests in Gaza in August 2018 succumbed to his wounds on Tuesday.The Higher National Committee of the Great March of Return mourned Rami al-Ghalban, 43, who died Tuesday from wounds his sustained while taking part in the Great March of Return on 3 August 2018.The Great March of Return started as weekly protests along Gaza’s border with the Palestinian territories occupied since 1948 and ended in December 2019.The protests were aimed at pressuring Israel to lift the blockade on Gaza and calling for allowing the 1948 Palestinian refugees to return to their lands.The border protests, despite being peaceful, were met with excessive force by the Israeli army which killed hundreds and injured thousands of unarmed Palestinians.
