Letter From Under Fire: Eviction of Palestinians

By Dr, Haq from Nablus (occupied Palestine)

Shamasneh, a Palestinian family was evicted by apartheid Israel occupation forces ( AIOF) from their home of 53 years in the occupied East Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah early Tuesday morning. AIOF claimed that this house had been owned by Jews before Nakba year 1948.
All great powers know that The Geneva Conventions prohibit the occupying power from causing any demographic change in the occupied territories. Therefore AIO can’t make any demographic changes in Gaza and West Bank included East Jerusalem which considered occupied territories according to UN Charter and resolutions. This means that AIO blatantly breaches international humanitarian law even if it uses its courts because they have not jurisdiction.
In fact, this is the real policy of AIO in confiscating Palestinian lands and demolishing their homes. Yesterday Media said that AIOF inside its territory demolished more than 1100 Palestinian houses in Nagab district during last year.
Any humanized person will feel angry when he saw the settlers can claim ownership of East Jerusalem properties based on the premise that they were owned by Jews before 1948, and in the same time he saw the hundreds of thousands of Palestinian refugees who were displaced from their homes during the establishment of the state of Israel in Nakba1948, were prohibited from recover their lands and return to their homes as UN resolution 194/1948 said.

Any humanized person can’t find any right description to this AIO policy except the words of distinguished Jewish historian, Ilan Pappe, which are “it is an ethnic cleansing of Palestinians”. This AIO policy would not have been possible to continue for 70 years ago without the US-led international imperialist cover.
